‘Smash Ultimate’ Has An MP3 Player With 700 Songs If Game Music Is Your Jam

If jamming out to video game music on the go is something you enjoy, we have what could be the best news of all time for you. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has a collection of over 700 songs which can be played via the game’s included music player, effectively turning your Nintendo Switch into an oversized MP3 player.

The songs span all of the titles from which its 74 fighters originate, totaling to an impressive 718 tunes. Some titles are better represented than others, as The Verge points out, with the Castlevania series, for example, featuring 26 tracks, while Final Fantasy VII only has two.

To get to the player and its collection of musical treasures, hit up the Vault menu and go to Sounds. Everything is split up by series, so finding what you’re after is pretty easy to do. You can either play the tunes through your TV while the Switch is docked or on the go via the headphone jack. If you hold the L and R buttons, you can even switch the screen off while the music continues to play and use the same buttons to switch tracks. Or, if you prefer, there’s a function to make a playlist.

The feature will probably only appeal to a niche group of gamers, but it’s just another way Smash Bros. Ultimate lives up to its name. If you’re the kind of person who fancies running flat out across an open field listening to the Zelda theme while a Switch protrudes from your pocket, this shit is right up your alley.

I don’t know how well the music would go down at a party, but hey, there’s only one way to find out.
