Atari Is Looking To Crowdfound A New ‘RollerCoaster Tycoon’ For The Switch

RollerCoaster Tycoon is an absolute belter of a classic. A game that’s truly stood the test of time, evidenced by 2016’s mobile version, RollerCoaster Tycoon Touch. Now, developers wanna bring the action to the Nintendo Switch, but they want a hand from you to get it done.

Atari is crowdfunding the the project via StartEngine, seeking between $10,000 ($1,2481 AUD) and $1.07 million ($1.34M AUD) in investment. The company who made RCT Touch, Nvizzio Creations, will also be developing the Switch version.

Perks will depend on the investment tier you choose, but all investors will participate in a revenue share, be kept informed about development, and maybe even get involved in future Atari projects. You can check out the campaign video below.

The company says the title won’t be just a port, but a full original game that takes advantage of the Switch’s best features, along with other exclusive inclusions. It’ll have a career mode, a free-play sandbox mode, and a number of challenging scenarios for players to complete, like meeting objectives with limited resources.

Nvizzio will allegedly begin work on the game in a few months.

In case you’ve not familiar with the game (what the hell is wrong with you?), it lets you become the owner, manager, and architect of your very own theme park. Since its original release in 1999, players have created some truly weird and whacky parks that have taken on a life of their own. Here’s an example complete with the gratuitous use of electronic music.

If you’re keen to get involved, you can suss out the campaign page here. If anybody wants me, I’ll be biding my time on RCT Touch until this version with a superior control scheme becomes available.
