‘Red Dead Online’ Has A Battle Royale Mode Because Of Course It Bloody Does

The Red Dead Online beta is up and running, folks, and if you’ve got the Ultimate Edition of Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ll be able to access it right now. As reports of what you’ll actually be doing in the title’s online variant start to trickle through, it looks like there’s even a battle royale mode.

Players will be able to “form or join a Posse to ride with up to seven players; gather around the fire at your Camp; head out hunting or fishing; visit bustling towns; battle enemy gangs and attack their hideouts; hunt for treasure; take on missions and interact with familiar characters from across the five states; or fight against other outlaws in both spontaneous skirmishes and pitched set-piece battles; compete with other players or whole Posses in open world challenges and much more,” Rockstar said in a press release.

You can team up with your pals to complete missions or simply grief the locals as you would in single player. Free roam missions will be available in a similar way to stranger missions, but how they work is based on your honour level at the time. For example, someone with a low honour level might be asked to break a convict out of prison, while a higher honour level would see them escorting a convoy.

On top of all that nonsense, there are also a bunch of adversary game modes.

Make it Count

This is a battle royale mode where players can only use a bow and a small supply of arrows or throwing knives to take down others. The play area will slowly sink, pushing players together where the last man standing wins.

Shootout & Team Shootout

A pretty standard deathmatch where everyone has unlimited lives, but whoever has the most kills by the end of the match wins.

Most Wanted

Every kill you make will take you higher up the scoreboard, but kills are weighted by position. For example, killing the person at the top of the scoreboard will yield the most points. Obviously, the goal is to get as many points as possible to win.

Hostile Territory

Teams must capture and hold territory in the play area, with points increasing for each capture. The team with the most points wins, but if you can manage to take every territory, you win immediately.

Name your Weapon

A free-for-all or team-based match where players are awarded points for scoring kills with different kinds of weapons.

There’s gonna be a lot to do in the wilds of Red Dead Online, folks, and if Rockstar’s treatment of GTA Online is anything to go off, they’ll keep the fresh content flowing for years.
