‘Red Dead 2’ Is Getting A Companion App & It’s Like An Extension Of The Game

Rockstar Games announced a companion app for Red Dead Redemption 2 today which will release alongside the title on October 26.

Available on both iOS and Android devices, the app will show real-time information as you play, like an interactive map, along with story elements like Arthur Morgan‘s journal entries. It’ll also allow you to have a more cinematic experience with the game itself.

“The app will also show you Arthur Morgan’s core info and stats in real-time on your device, allowing you to completely remove the in-game HUD from your television should you choose,” Rockstar said via its news post.

“You can pan and zoom the map, set waypoints or mark areas of interest with a tap on your screen, aiding your exploration and discovery throughout the expansive world of Red Dead Redemption 2.”

In other words, the app will serve as an extension of the game, which makes it handy as fuck, particularly if you wanna take advantage of a HUD-free screen so you can cop a huge eyeful of those amazing graphics.

I had a go of RDR2 a few weeks ago and found the breadth of choice available in its massive open world to be jaw-droppingly huge. The level of immersion and detail is like nothing I’ve experienced before. I also accidentally punched my horse, which I certainly wouldn’t advise.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out tomorrow, the 26th of October, for PS4 and Xbox One.
