Popular Swedish YouTuber, Felix ‘PewDiePie‘ Kjellberg, has been held the biggest channel on the platform for a little while now. Despite the backlash against some of his more questionable content, his subscriber base has continued to grow, but it won’t be enough to stop the inevitable dethroning at the hands of a channel called T-Series, which is on track to overtake PewDie Pie at some point within the next 6 months.

As Polygon reports, a Social Blade analysis of the two channels shows T-Series’ upwards trajectory of subscribers may even converge before January 2019. PewDiePe is estimated to reach 70.9 million subscribers, but T-Series will hit 85.4 million.
What in the fuck is T-Series, you ask? Well, unlike PewDiePie, T-Series is a number of creators rather than a solo channel. It’s an Indian-based production company which creates mostly Bollywood content. Its videos are well-produced and as an advantage, cater mostly to India, a country with a population of 1.3 billion, of which 80 per cent of its internet-going folk regularly jump on YouTube for a bit of a watch. Of course, people outside of the country get up in T-Series’ gear, as well, but it still has a massive home-field advantage.
In terms of subscribers, PewDiePie gains an average of 30,000 new ones every day, compared to T-Series’ current 150,000 per day.

While old mate’s days in the top spot are definitely numbered, it’s worth noting that that the comparison between the two channels isn’t exactly an even match, and while T-Series will very likely become the new top channel, PewDiePie will still maintain the spot as the top solo creator.
The YouTuber has called on his “army of 9-year-olds” to help him retain the position, but I doubt there’s much that can be done. The Bollywood creator is simply too popular.
