The console itself is 45 per cent smaller than the OG PlayStation and comes with two wired controllers, an HDMI output, and a virtual memory card to save your games without hassle. While the unit will come with 20 classic titles, only five have been announced so far – Final Fantasy VIIJumping FlashRidge Racer Type 4Tekken 3, and Wild Arms.

Visually, you can expect the same janky-yet-loveable experience you did all those years ago. Have a taste of the action in the trailer below.

Ah, sweet, delicious memories. Sony plans to announce more titles between now and the console’s release on the 3rd of December. It’ll set you back $149.99 AUD, or at least that’s what the RRP is.

“Almost 25 years ago, the original PlayStation was introduced to the world,” the company wrote in a blog post. “Developed by Sony Computer Entertainment, it was the first home console in video game history to ship 100 million units worldwide, offering consumers a chance to play games with real-time 3D rendered graphics in their homes for the first time.”

As for what you’ll get in the package, you can see it all below. Weirdly, the website says that “a compatible USB AC adaptor (not included) is required to use this console”. So, uh, I guess you’ll need to source one of those yourself.

PlayStation Classic

It’s a helluva time to be a gamer, friends. Not only do we have an insane amount of choice when it comes to what we wanna play and what we wanna play it on, but all of the biggest console makers are also keen to cash in on that powerful gaming nostalgia, and you better believe we’re keen to lap that shit up.

They damn well better include Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and Wipeout in the collection or I’ll be pissed.
