There’s a whole lot of Pokémon-related stuff happening this year, particularly on the video game front. We’ve already been given the adorable Pokémon Quest, and Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu / Eevee isn’t far off, either, but let’s be real, we’re all holding out for the main event which is, of course, the next big Pokémon RPG. Welp, some fresh new information may be just around the corner, folks.

According to a number of pages referencing a site called Serebii.net, Pokémon producer, director, composer, and designer, Junichi Masuda, will be appearing on the Japenese show, Pokenchi, on September 9 at 8am JST (9am AEST) to “provide the latest news on the Pokemon games”. Sure, they may just focus on the Let’s Go games, but we already know pretty much everything we need to know about those prior to their release, so there’s a chance we could get some fresh intel on the new RPG which was first announced at last year’s E3.
Given the title is due out next year, it wouldn’t be a stretch to expect some first glimpses of it at some point soon. According to Silicon Era, Masuda rarely goes on the show, so many think the news could be pretty big. On the other hand, Pokémon Let’s Go launches on November 16, so this could just as well be a plan to inject some more hype into the fanbase leading up to that, but we won’t know for sure until Sunday.
After playing one of the Let’s Go games at this year’s E3, I found it to be surprisingly fun, but nothing groundbreaking. Think Pokémon Yellow with a fresh coat of paint and updated controls. Still, it’ll give fans a quick fix to tide them over until the next mainline game.
