EA Will Give Fans The Chance To Play The Next ‘Battlefield’ Game In June

EA has just announced its plans for this year’s EA Play event which will include a playable version of the next Battlefield game.

EA Play is held just prior to the E3 conference in LA – one of the biggest gaming events of the year – where most of the huge industry announcements and reveals are made. Rather than include themselves, they run the event on their own.

So in what period will the next Battlefield be set? No bloody clue. Literally all we know is that EA is comfortable enough to let the public play it in June, so it’s pretty far along. All the company says is that attendees will “have a chance to play the next Battlefield experience,” so do with that what you will.

EA previously announced the next entry in the series would be released in 2018, so we’ll likely hear more about in the lead-up to E3.

EA Play will run from the 9th of June to the 11th at the Hollywood Palladium, Los Angeles, with E3 set to begin the following day. The company will also run a press conference on the 9th which will be streamed online.

The publisher also teased its regular yearly sports offerings as playable at the event, as well as “an inside look” at the heavily hyped BioWare title, Anthem. Whether it’ll be playable or not isn’t certain, but given its new release date of early 2019, I doubt it.

If you’re lucky enough to be in LA at the time, tickets to EA Play will be distributed for free via a new, yet to be detailed system which aims to “give players better hands-on access to their favorite games”. More details to come soon.

Personally, I’d love to see Battlefield return to WWII with an updated feel. Battlefield 1942 2, if you will. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what they have in mind.
