The Elder Scrolls franchise is 25 years old today and to celebrate the momentous occasion, Bethesda is giving away the classic Morrowind for absolutely nothing.

Whilst it’s full of bugs, janky as hell, and, at times, frustrating as all fuck, Morrowind is still considered one of the best Elder Scrolls games ever made, and there’s a good reason for that. Its world is rich, varied, and refuses to hold your hand, forcing you to just delve in and tackle it on your own accord.
If you’ve never played Morrowind, or you’re simply keen to take another run at it, it’s free today only via Bethesda’s website. All you need to do is head to Bethesda.net and create an account or log into your existing one. Once you’ve done that, you can redeem the code “TES25TH-MORROWIND“ to claim the game and download it on the Bethesda Launcher, which you can also download via the website.
If you’re one of those always logged in types, you can redeem the game with the code above right here.
Morrowind, in its natural state, has definitely aged visually, but there’s a whole heap of mods available to enhance its textures quite a bit. It won’t make it any less janky, but it’ll at least be a little easier on the eyes.
If you were a fan of Skyrim or even Oblivion, I simply can’t recommend you jump on this offer enough. It’s free, dammit, just give it a go.
