4 Times Minecraft Went Down Under And Recreated Near-Exact Replicas Of Places Around Aus

Minecraft

Ahead of the newest addition to Minecraft, an Australian mini-world that aims to make people aware of natural disasters through a full-blown simulation, we thought it’d be a good time to dive into the most Aussie Minecraft moments ever.

From the uncanny replica of the Sydney Opera House to Melbourne’s own Fed Square, here’s a brief look into Australia’s footprint on the insanely popular game that just keeps growing and growing (and growing).

1. Climate Warriors

NRMA Insurance has officially launched Climate Warriors, a new Minecraft addition set in a fictitious mini-world that draws inspiration from real Australian coastal towns.

While it’s certainly a confronting theme, Climate Warriors is clever in the sense that Aussie players will be able to recognise legit places they know of or have been to across the country, so when you play the simulation, it really drives home the importance of Australians preparing before a natural disaster occurs or even knowing how to handle themselves during one.

If you’re going to be standing in the midst of a crisis, the best-case scenario is for it to be in a game.

2. Sydney Opera House

Honestly, I have no idea how people can be so skilled as to replicate architecture as ridic as the Sydney Opera House, but the talented people behind the 1:1 Project did just that. They also threw in the Sydney Harbour Bridge for good measure, because why not?

You can cop a proper geeze of the iconic landmarks around the 2:57 mark.

3. Melbourne’s Train Stations

Allegedly built by the actual Vic Metro tunnel crew, this shockingly accurate replica of Melbourne’s railways, Flinders Street Station and…well…everywhere around it is like touring around the city without having to elbow punters out the way and spending 40 minutes getting from place to place.

Win-win, in my book.

4. New Australia

Some huge Sim City fan (I assume) asked 300 Minecraft players to not only recreate Australia but build an entirely new country.

If you don’t have 26 minutes to spare, do a quick random click on some of the timestamps – again, how people exist who are this skilled is beyond me.

I can barely build a desk.

If you wanna check out the new simulation Climate Warriors, mosey on over to Minecraft Marketplace or Minecraft Education Edition.

It’s worth a spin.
