August Burns Red Did A Cover Of The ‘Zelda’ Theme That’ll Snap Yr Deku Stick

The original Legend of Zelda theme is one of the most recognisable and popular pieces of video game music ever composed, so it’s no surprise that plenty of artists have covered the iconic tune over the years, but none of them will ever be good as the most recent take by a popular metal band.

Members of the band August Burns Red recorded the cover as part of their upcoming EP, Phantom Sessions, which is due out on February 8. It was lead by the band’s bassist, Dustin Davidson, who is a self-confessed Zelda fanatic. As you’ll see, old mate swapped his bass for a guitar in the clip.

The cover also features the classic dungeon tune, which adds a further melodic twist to the jam. It absolutely whips sack and you should check it out in the video below.

Fuck that’s good. I’d pay good rupees for an album of Ocarina of Time covers in this style. Just hook it to my damn veins.

August Burns Red formed in 2003 and have so far released eight studio albums and a number of EPs, a couple of which are all metal covers of classic Christmas songs. In my opinion, they’re one of the best and most consistent metalcore bands of all time.

If I were Nintendo, I’d be re-releasing all Zelda games with this as the overworld theme. You’d go at least 80 per cent more hog-wild on some Stalfos if Matt Greiner‘s machine-like drumming was assaulting your ears at the same time.
