Here’s 20 Minutes Of ‘Anthem’ Gameplay If You’re Still Confused About It

Since Anthem was announced, folks have been confused about… Well, most of it. Even after it was shown further at this year’s E3, no one’s really been sure how the game will play out, what your objectives are, and so on. The game’s executive producer, Mark Darrah, posted a lengthy clip to Twitter today which answers a lot of those questions.

The video is narrated by BioWare lead producer, Ben Irving, and shows almost 20 minutes of fresh gameplay footage featuring nearly an entire raid or “stronghold mission” where a group of players battle through numerous terrains and collect loot.

You can take on these raids in groups of up to four players with the ability to add those players even if the raid has already started. You’ll even be able to play with lower or higher levelled players, no matter what the mission is.

Irving also explains that “emergent world events” like the enormous titan the team choose to avoid will be a frequent factor in the game, allowing players to get sidetracked if it’s something they’d like to do. You can check out the footage in the clip below.

Graphically, the game looks amazing and feels truly enormous. Being able to fly high above the lush canyons and forests of the world shows off a sense of scale that’s really impressive and judging from the brief glimpses of the map, we’ve only seen a fraction of what’s on offer.

If you’ve played Destiny, you’ll probably be getting similar vibes from this. Whether that’s a good or a bad thing will depend on how much you enjoy Destiny, but the formula here seems pretty familiar. Hopefully, Anthem will be able to differentiate itself from Activision‘s raid/loot shooter.

The game is due out in February 2019.
