Forget Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, there’s a new skateboarding game coming your way that’s going to blow your face off. It’s called Skatebird and it’s about a skateboarding bird. Sign me the fuck up.

Coming at some point in early 2019 (its Steam page says “soon-ish”) Skatebird is about a cute little bird who skates a tiny board around tiny skateparks made out of pencils, erasers, and other pieces of stationery. It’s adorable and all I wanna do is play it. Have a look at the trailer below.
Goddamn, that rules. It’s just like those internet videos of real birds riding around on Tech Decks, but with more kickflips.
“Drop in, and be a skateboarding bird. Grind on bendy straws, kickflip over staplers, and carve killer lines through cardboard and sticky tape parks,” the Steam description reads. “Skate an expansively tiny world with simple controls even a Hawk named Tony would dig.”
Skatebird is being developed by Glass Bottom Games, which has created other indie titles like Gravitaz and Hot Tin Roof. How good a skateboarding game is usually comes down to how well it handles, so whether it’ll be any good on that front is yet to be seen, but the idea of a skateboarding bird alone is great, to me.
