Epic Games, the studio behind the hugely popular title, Fortnite, is pretty good at keeping things interesting, whether it’s by introducing constant in-game events, or real-world marketing stunts. This time, folks are losing their fucking minds over a cube they collectively named Kevin.

Now, I haven’t played Fortnite in a little while, folks, but as I understand it, Kevin was a big purple cube floating above the battle royale map that made some weird things happen from time to time. Recently, Kevin began to spin and glow, leaving many in the game to look on in awe rather than shoot at each other like they normally would. Eventually, Kevin exploded.
In a spectacular white flash, every player in the server was transported to another dimension, floating around helplessly as a bunch of floating objects morphed into a butterfly. After that, players were dropped back into the map and proceeded to kill each other as the universe intended. You can see it in action in the clip by YouTuber, Joshy, below.
Wow, there was a lot of screaming in that video. Pretty neat event? Sure. Worthy of full-blown hysterics? No. Please calm down.
Kevin’s demise was teased in a tweet Epic made last week, which encouraged players to be around for the end of its Halloween event, Fortnitemares. Data miners also found references to the purple cube and something called “butterfly”, so assumptions about what was gonna happen were flying around wildly.

I don’t think anyone guessed it would involve a wild new dimension, but here we are.
