Get Your First Look At The Big Bony Fella In The PS4 Remake Of ‘MediEvil’

Remember the game MediEvil? It was released all the way back in 1998 for the OG PlayStation and featured a skeleton bloke with a big sword who lurched around graveyards. Well, it’s copping a remake and Sony has just debuted its first trailer.

The PS4 exclusive is being resurrected (ha!) by Other Ocean Interactive, who stress that it’s not a simple remaster, it’s a total remake of the game “from the grave up”. Classic gear. Have a look at the trailer for yourself below.

“MediEvil follows the story of Sir Dan, an unlikely champion who met an unfortunate end on the field of battle,” chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios, Shawn Layden, wrote on a PlayStation Blog post. “He receives a chance at redemption when his nemesis, the evil sorcerer Lord Zarok, accidentally resurrects him 100 years after that fateful day. Lord Zarok seeks to conquer the Kingdom of Gallowmere, and only the skeletal Sir Dan stands between Zarok’s army of the undead and the kingdom he swore to protect.”

There’s no solid release date for the MediEvil remake just yet, but you can expect it at some point next year. It marks the third recent remake of an older title for PlayStation, with Crash Bandicoot and the Spyro Reignited Trilogy rounding out the other two. I guess if you already own the IP and have a fanbase of nostalgia-hungry gamers, why the hell not?

Add it to the list of games to look forward to in 2019, folks.
