‘Fallout 76’ Is Ditching PvP Restrictions In A New Game Mode Next Year

Fallout 76 is getting a new game mode early next year which will be free of the PvP restrictions currently in place. Announced via Bethesda‘s own blog, the new mode will be introduced in early 2019.

At the moment, PvP can only be fully engaged when both players agree to fight. If you shoot someone in the world unexpectedly, they’ll only take a small amount of damage, but if the other player fires back, your weapons will then do full damage. The idea here was to minimise griefing and encourage cooperative play, but many players were hoping for a far more dangerous version of West Virginia, and it looks like they’re going to get just that.

“We’re already having fun playing it at the office and we’re hopeful to roll it out to all of you sometime in the first quarter of the year,” the announcement reads.

Other things Bethesda hopes to get out by mid-January include “fixes for the Lever-Action Rifle reload animation, some perk cards, and we’re dealing some crowd control at the Whitespring by implementing a fix for the robots duplicating on the resort grounds.”

On top of that, the team hopes to add some more transparency around their goals for Fallout 76 moving forward by adding some “brief thoughts” to future patch notes.

The PvP changes will certainly add a new element to Fallout 76, and it’s nice to know that players have a choice depending on their playstyle.
