The video game publisher behind the Madden series, Electronic Arts, has created a fund for the victims of the Jacksonville shooting which happened over the weekend, contributing $US1 million ($1.4 million) to it themselves.

Two men, Taylor Robertson and Eli Clayton, were killed at the Madden NFL 19 tournament after a competitor who lost returned to the venue and opened fire on those inside, specifically targetting his opponents.

Dubbed The Jacksonville Tribute, the fund will provide support for the families of Robertson and Clayton, as well as others affected by the tragedy. The company will also be live streaming an event hosted by the Madden team to bring “the community together” on September 6. If you’re keen to donate to the fund, EA will be opening it up to everyone soon.

“We’ve heard from so many of you that would like to support the victims, and to show that this horrific event will not define us, but only serve to make our community stronger,” the team said in a statement which you can read in full below.
