Aussie ‘Fortnite’ Streamer’s Botched Rescue Commemorated In New Update

The latest Fortnite update includes a few new features, like the whole Birthday Challenges thing, for example, but it also includes a funny little tribute to a botched rescue an Australian streamer attempted recently.

The video, which was shared by the official Fortnite Twitter account, shows Sydney streamer, Muselk, investigating an abandoned All-Terrain Kart left by the edge of a cliff. As he reaches the kart and has a gander over the edge, he sees that a player named Chappadoodle has fallen off the side and somehow survived on the small patch of land below.

Assuming old mate ran out of building materials and was simply waiting for the sweet release of death, Muselk decided to rescue the stranded player. He got to work building an elaborate set of staircases all the way down the side of the cliff face, but when he finally gets towards the bottom, he discovers he’s reached the vertical build limit, which is why Chappadoodle was stuck on the dang ledge.

Muselk, determined to save this brave soul, hatched a plan. He powered back to the top of the cliff to retrieve the ATK which he would carefully drive to the ledge, then use its bouncy roof to spring the both of them onto the lowest platform he was able to build. Genius.

He drove the kart over the edge and helplessly watched it tumble down the cliff, hitting a couple of obstacles on the way down. Amazingly, he makes it there alive, but sadly, the same could not be said about Chappadoodle, who was accidentally struck by the kart with such force, he was thrown off the edge of the map and killed.

You can check out the clip below, which ends with Muselk testing out the escape plan he would have used, which absolutely worked.

As spotted by Reddit user, StoreBrandEnigma, Epic Games included a cute little tribute to the amazing rescue attempt on that same little patch of land. It now hosts a tombstone and some tires, which, like the ATK roof, lets players bounce off them.

Great stuff. May no one get stuck on the cursed ledge ever again.
