Apex Legends took the gaming community by storm when it was released out of nowhere last month, and recently, fans have been hearing rumours of a new hero joining the eight originals currently in play. Because of a stuff up on EA‘s end, his identity has been pretty much confirmed.

Thanks to the work of dataminers, (people who trawl through game files to find clues about upcoming or unreleased content) folks had already heard about the new character, Octane, but EA’s PC platform, Origin, accidentally confirmed his existence earlier today by publishing some details early.

The game’s developers, Respawn Entertainment, were quick to respond to the leak via the Apex Legends official subreddit, saying that “there’s been a lot of speculation and confusion so we wanted to give some clarity”.

Octane’s passive is expected to be some kind of healing ability, while one of his mains will sacrifice 10 per cent of his health for a 30 per cent boost in speed. The battle pass stuff has since been taken down, but you can catch a screenshot of it below.

Many assumed Octane would be available at some point today, but Respawn has denied this, instead saying he’s instead coming “very soon”. As you can see, it’ll cost 950 Apex Coins to unlock him, which is about $12 in real world money.

So if you’re fanging for a new legend to play, you probably won’t have to wait much longer, folks.
