Zac Efron Finally Spills On Playing Ted Bundy: “It Was Fun To Experiment”

As we draw closer to actually seeing Zac Efron play out notorious serial killer/necrophile Ted Bundy in ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’he’s taken time to speak with ET about the transformation from himself to the charming-but-fucking-evil Bundy.

Speaking with ET, Efron said that he found it fun and interesting to “experiment in that realm of reality.

It’s very interesting. I think the movie itself is really deep. It doesn’t really glorify Ted Bundy. He wasn’t a person to be glorified. It simply tells a story and sort of how the world was able to be charmed over by this guy who was notoriously evil and the vexing position that so many people were put in, the world was put in.

Efron also talked about his approach to playing Bundy, and that he definitely did not go method for the role. I mean, how could you even do that? You can’t just CHANNEL Ted Bundy without being a totally manipulative psychopath with a tendency to lure, assault, and kill young women. So yeah, pretty fair enough that he left Bundy at the door at the end of every shoot day.

“I didn’t take it home,” he said. “I didn’t go full method and I didn’t have to like do any weird stuff to anybody to get into character. It’s a different type of film.”

Until we get our eyes on the final film – which wrapped filming at the end of February – please spend time feeling extremely conflicted over whether you should be attracted to Zac Efron in a tight pair of flares (good) playing one of the most chilling serial killers in U.S. history (bad).
