Yup, You Probably Missed A Major Aussie Actor’s ‘GoT’ Debut In The Last Ep

Game Of Thrones is so intense right now that it’s entirely possible to miss some of the lil’ details. Hell, there are entire corners of the internet dedicated to unearthing said tidbits and extrapolating what they mean for the rest of the series. What we’re getting at, is this: esteemed Aussie actor Brendan Cowell made his Thrones debut in the last episode, and we’re not going to begrudge you for not clocking his presence.

Cowell portrayed none other than Harrag, an Ironborn man who plucked Theon Greyjoy out of the water. It’s likely not the last we’re going to see of Cowell either, as a hardcore Thrones fansite (yes, they even do their research outside of the show) unearthed a note from his agency saying he’d worked under multiple directors on the series.

There’s also been speculation that his presence matches up with a leaked casting note, which sought “a tough-looking bruiser with the attack skills of a pit bull, and the actor needs to be great at fighting.

“He has a ‘considerable’ amount of dialogue as well. It’s described as an ‘excellent part for a top-end actor.”

All of this means that Cowell can add a hefty turn on one of the most important television series to his already impressive resume, which includes roles on The Slap, The Borgias, and Beneath Hill 60.

It’s worth noting that his agency resume also lists fire-breathing and juggling as a couple of his talents, so if it all goes belly up for the Ironborn (look, it’s not unlikely), he could fill in as a hapless jester.

Expect to see more of old mate in the episodes to come.
