Sneaky ‘To All The Boys’ Cameo Apparently Doing Wonders For Yakult

Out of all the amazing things to emerge from Netflix success To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, this is by far my favouriteIn one particular scene, where one Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo) has commenced the *fake* wooing of Lara Jean Song Covey (Lana Condor) he takes a swig from this “Korean yoghurt smoothie”.

Oh, and then he drives across town to the Korean grocery to get a couple of the yoghurt smoothies and about a million people fall in love with him right there and then.

Now, even though no brand is mentioned you know immediately that the “Korean yoghurt smoothie” is Yakult, the delish Japanese fermented skimmed milk product.

The packaging is identical, there’s just no doubting it so – and even without any statistics – it’s safe to go ahead and assume there’s going to be some sort of spike in Yakult sales from the free promotion.

According to business heads, BloombergYakult’s “mention frequency” on Twitter increased after To All The Boys dropped on the streaming service.

Chuck Yakult into Twitter and this is what you get:

Yakult USA ended up retweeting this:

Prior to the film’s release on August 17, Bloomberg reports Yakult’s shares had actually dropped six per cent this business year. Then, when the teen romcom arrived, it went back up by 2.6 per cent.

But that’s not all. According to a couple of people on Twitter – Yakult’s seemingly flying off shelves.

Struggles.

As far as my recent grocery shopping has showed me, Yakult’s are plentiful so give thanks to the yoghurt smoothie gods that the Australian To All The Boys stans are not as vicious… although, if you’re trying to get your hands on the actual book by Jenny Han, it’s extremely hard to get.

You can stream To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before to your hearty content on Netflix, now.
