The film begins in 1999 as musically talented teenage sisters Celeste and Eleanor survive a school shooting. Together, they write a powerful song about their experience and are catapulted into stardom under the guidance of their talent manager, played by Jude Law.

The second half of the film picks up in 2017 when 31-year-old Celeste (Portman) is now the star of the duo and a mother to a teenager. Celeste struggles to navigate a career full of scandal while Eleanor (Stacy Martin) is both her emotional and creative support.

The film debuted back at the 75th Venice International Film Festival in September and since then, has been doing pretty well with the critics.

On Rotten Tomatoesthe film currently holds an 85 per cent fresh rating from 47 critic reviews while 95 per cent of punters are keen to see it.

Actor and filmmaker Brady Corbert wrote the screenplay and directed the film while the incredibly talented Sia is behind a number of original songs on the official soundtrack.

Speaking of which, you’ll hear Portman belting out one of them in this latest trailer.

“Tonight, we are going to bring it back to where it all began,” Portman’s Celeste begins before we’re taken through her younger years.

Celeste – young and older – performs the emotional song ‘Wrapped Up’.

The American release date is set for December 7 2018 but there doesn’t appear to be an official release date yet for us Aussies. With how things usually go, expect it either at the end of December or the beginning of January.
