Haunting Of Hill House

Nellie Crain/The Bent-Neck Lady may not return for the second season of Haunting because she’s, uh, dead but phenomenal The Haunting of Hill House breakout star Victoria Pedretti is officially headlining season two, The Haunting of Bly Manor. The Netflix anthology series announced the news earlier today and fans are goddamn stoked.

Pedretti, who will also star in season two of Netflix’s You, helped spread the good news in a video on Haunting‘s social media accounts. The actor revealed she’ll be playing a governess named Dani who takes care of two very unusual children.

“Our incredible writing team is writing the new season right now and I’m so excited to get going,” she said.

The Haunting of Bly Manor is based on the works of Henry James. According to Deadlineseason two is inspired by the author’s 1898 psychological Gothic horror novella The Turn of the Screw, which is mostly set in a haunted country mansion. Sounds about right.

The Haunting of Bly Manor is slated for release in 2020.

In related news, Carla Gugino – who starred as the Crain matriarch Olivia – recently told The Wrap that she’s been “talking a lot” with the show’s creator Mike Flanagan about Haunting season two.

“Well, I can’t say anything definitive at this point, other than Mike and I really love collaborating and working together and any opportunity where a schedule allows for us to do that, we will, and I would be honoured to,” she said.

Apart from Haunting, the pair have also worked on the film adaptation of Stephen King‘s Gerald’s Game together. It’s available on Netflix if you’re keen on unsettling thrillers.

“So we’re talking a lot about it and we’ll just see if all schedules allow,” Gugino added.

Michiel Huisman, Elizabeth Reaser, Kate Siegel, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and Timothy Hutton also starred in season one. Here’s hoping they all return.

The Haunting of Hill House is available to stream on Netflix now.
