WAH: A Look At All The A+ TV Shows That Recently Got The Axe

The past few months have been absolutely bonkers what with Christmas, New Year’s, vacays, back to school/work/uni/whatever the feck it is you do and so important news such as the cancellation of an excellent TV show can easily slip past you.

Therefore I figured it’d be necessary to put together a little list of shows that have been axed in recent months just so you’re not sitting around waiting for them to return in 2019.

Read ’em and weep, people…

Suits

Some bittersweet news was delivered to fans of popular legal drama Suits this morning as USA Network announced that it’s coming to an end.

Bright side? We have one final season to look forward to featuring 10 episodes and possibly the return of previous cast members.

Queen Meghan Markle (pun totally intended) is rumoured to be returning but creator Aaron Korsh isn’t 1000% sure.

“As of this minute, I don’t know which of our old original cast will be back and which won’t because we’re so early in the season. I can tell you that those things in the papers [about making a charitable donation to get Markle on board], I have no idea what they’re talking about,” he told Deadline

“I have not arranged for millions of dollars to be donated to anything on behalf of anyone so that I can tell you, but as far as the original people coming back including [Gina Torres‘ character], Jessica, we’re so early in the season that we haven’t formulated what we want to do, so we can’t reach out to people before we know what we want to do,” he added.

Criminal Minds

I mean, considering this show has been running for a decade and a half, you can hardly say that it was axed but it is worth letting you good people know that Criminal Minds is sadly ending.

The beloved series’ official Twitter account confirmed the news that its upcoming 15th season will be its last with an “epic final season” promised to viewers.

“Hey, #CriminalMinds fans — we’ve got big news. First, mark your calendar for the Season 14 finale, Feb 6 at 10/9c,” the show tweeted.

“Next, get ready for a momentous ride: Season 15 will be our epic final season,” the tweet read alongside a cast photo.

Trial & Error

After being shopped around to networks since the end of last year, hilarious sitcom Trial & Error officially became a case closed as NBC announced that they’re completely axing the show.

The beloved comedy series that became known for spoofing docos and reality legal shows, starred Nicholas D’Agosto, Jayma Mays, Steven Boyer, Sherri Shepherd, John Lithgow and Kristin Chenoweth.

Dayum, law-related series aren’t having a whole lotta luck lately, are they? The TV Gods had better stay the fuck away from Law & Order: SVU or I’m officially resigning from life.

The First

Sean Penn‘s Hulu series The First was recently given the boot after just one season.

From the creator of House of Cards came the ~otherworldly~ show about an astronaut trying to make the voyage to Mars.

It also starred Oded Fehr (Charmed), Natascha McElhone (Californication), LisaGay Hamilton (True Crime), Melissa George (Grey’s Anatomy) and Hannah Ware (Hitman: Agent 47).

Luke Cage

A few months back Netflix announced that it had pulled the plug on its Marvel series Luke Cage after just two seasons.

“Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season,” Netflix and Marvel said in a joint statement. “Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.”

A source told The Hollywood Reporter that the cancellation was due to creative differences and the inability to agree on terms for a third season of the show.

Channel Zero

Syfy‘s horror anthology series Channel Zero is sadly ending after four seasons.

Executive producer, showrunner and writer Nick Antosca recently revealed the news via his Instagram.

Cop his statement below:

CHANNEL ZERO: CANCELLATION NEWS

After 4 seasons, Channel Zero is no more at SYFY.

I loved making this show and I would have loved to do more… but I can’t complain too much about doing 4 stories I loved with people who I loved working with:

People like our writers, our actors, our extraordinary crew, the artists who contributed, our editors and post team, our composer Jeff Russo, our team at Syfy and UCP. And especially the four awesome directors, Craig Macneill, Steven Piet, Arkasha Stevenson, and Evan Katz.

And before all that, the authors of the original creepypasta stories. Kris Straub, Brian Russell, Kerry Hammond, and Charlotte Bywater.
I’m deeply grateful for this experience. Especially to everybody who watched and talked about and wrote about the show. There are stories we didn’t get to tell and creatures you didn’t get to see, but still might. ???????? Meanwhile, the first 3 seasons are currently on @shudder, and the 4th season will be soon. Enjoy.
