Danny Boyle’s New Film Is A Beatles Movie Where The Beatles Never Existed

The trailer for Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle‘s new film, Yesterday, dropped earlier today, and the premise is a pretty interesting one, folks. It takes place in a world where The Beatles never existed.

The idea is that a bloke gets hit by a bus and wakes in a world which is identical to his previous one, only in the new one, The Beatles were never a thing. There was no ‘Hey Jude,’ no ‘Come Together,’ and certainly no ‘Yesterday‘. Of course, old mate sparks a great idea when he figures all of this out.

Interesting concept, no? I mean, who wouldn’t pass off any of The Beatles’ hits as their own given the chance? It’s also pretty clever from Boyle’s perspective given the rights to actual Beatles songs are incredibly hard to procure.

Yesterday stars Himesh PatelLily James, Kate McKinnon and even Ed Sheeran as you probably saw in the trailer. If you’re keen to suss it out, you can do so when it hits theatres on June 28.
