Watch Timothée Chalamet Rip Your Heart Out In ‘Beautiful Boy’ Trailer

A little while ago we were given our first look at Timothée Chalamet and Steve Carell’s overly realistic and sob-inducing film, Beautiful Boy, because the former refuses to stop destroying our hearts.

Now, we have the first full trailer and it’s a humongous punch to the heart.

Beautiful Boy, based on the New York Times Bestselling memoir by David Sheff, is about a father’s journey through his son’s battle with drug addiction.

Nic Sheff (Chalamet) is a former varsity athlete and honours student who feels increasingly lost after he becomes addicted to methamphetamine. David (Carell) loves his son more than anything in the world but doesn’t know how to respond or approach addiction.

The disease puts an incredible strain on their relationship as David becomes more and more desperate to help his son – an obsession that becomes his own addiction.

The memoir begun as an 2005 article in The New York Times Magazine titled My Addicted SonIn it, David shares the heartbreaking journey of his son’s battle with addiction including a memory of Nic stealing money from his 8-year-old brother in order to pay for his escalating meth habit. In another, Nic attends the University of California at Berkeley and almost immediately starts dealing so he can pay for more drugs.
