‘The Living Room’ Hosts Are Reportedly Ditching It For A New Show In 2020

The Living Room

The Living Room hosts, Amanda KellerChris BrownMiguel Maestre, and Barry Du Bois, are reportedly leaving the Logie award-winning show for a new project on Network 10 next year.

A spokesperson for Network 10 told the team at TV Tonight that the show “will not return in 2020”, but as alarming as this may sound for fans, it doesn’t appear to be your average axing.

“We are thrilled that the brilliant team of Amanda, Barry, Miguel, and Chris will be back at 7.30 on Friday nights next year, watch this space for more information,” the spokesperson continued.

So, if I’m reading this correctly, Network 10 is replacing The Living Room with a new show at the same time on the same day with the same hosts. Sure, makes sense.

The Living Room, arguably my dad’s favourite TV show, has been running for eight seasons on the network. The series has copped a couple of Logies for its content including the gong for most popular lifestyle program. It’s not yet known just what Network 10 is up to and until we get an official statement, I’d take this all with a ginormous grain of salt. That last part is mostly for my dad, who is concerned to say the very least.

TV Tonight suggests the re-formatting is due to costs and a dip in ratings.

The news comes despite Ten confirming The Living Room had been renewed for a 2020 season at its annual Upfronts presentation earlier this year. If you’re unfamiliar with Upfronts, it’s pretty much Network 10 presenting all of its new shows and whatnot.

The Living Room joined a whole slew of titles including Bondi Rescue, Todd Sampson’s Body Hack, One Born Every Minute, Ambulance Australia, Australian Survivor, Masterchef, and all of The Bachie series to name a few.

Stay tuned.
