The critically acclaimed series announced the news on Twitter over the weekend, tweeting: “You did this, Resistors. Praise be.”

The Handmaid’s Tale, based on Margaret Atwood‘s 1985 novel of the same name, focuses on Gilead’s messed up regime in which women are forced into sex slavery to reproduce because of dangerously low reproduction rates. Elisabeth Moss leads the cast, and is joined by Yvonne Strahovski, Joseph Fiennes, Alexis Bledel, Madeline Brewer, Ann Dowd, O.T. Fagbenle, Max Minghella, and Samira Wiley.

After a little eligibility fussing, which you can read more about here, the show picked up 11 Emmy nominations for 2019. These include Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series (Bradley Whitford), Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series (Cherry Jones), and both the Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for the episode Holly, season 2, episode 11.

The 71st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on September 22.

In Australia, you can find seasons 2 and 3 on SBS On Demand right HEREAlternatively, you can also stream the series on Stan.
