That ‘Good Place’ And ‘Parks & Rec’ Crossover Ain’t Happening, Soz

As much as we’d all like it to happen, Mike Schur, creator of both The Good Place and Parks & Recreation, has finally put his foot down about the whole ‘Schurniverse’ thing, effectively dashing the hopes of fans who hinged hopes on a crossover between the two shows.

As per Uproxx, Schur put the nail in the coffin of the almighty crossover during a press tour for the latest NBC comedy under his wide Fremulon umbrella – a comedy called Abby’s starring Natalie Morales who was once Lucy in Parks & Rec and Neil Flynn from Scrubs.

I want to make this very clear, that will never happen — end of story,” he said.

I’m like literally drawing a shower curtain between the universe and that idea.

Schur dropped this whole ‘these universes do not overlap’ thing despite The Good Place harbouring some very crafty Parks & Rec easter eggs. We have receipts, Michael. We have receipts!

Please let me feel all my feelings while I throw out all my workings on what Parks & Rec players would 110% be in the Bad Place (I’m still looking at you, Jean-Ralphio.)

Ok good, we’ve got that out of our system.

So essentially all those easter eggs are simply nodding to is past work, and are absolutely NOT an indication that the two shows exist, canonically, in the same universe.

That’s fine. I’m fine. Everything is fine. I didn’t want to see Ted Danson and Nick Offerman opposite each other, discussing morals and ethics and the nature of being good to others, it’s F I N E.

This also means that despite this perfect picture of two pure souls Janet and L’il Sebastian, the timelines never cross. Whatever, it’s cool.

I mean I’m still believing that L’il Sebastian is in a version of the Good Place somewhere. Maybe he’s in the dot of Jeremy Bearimy. Yeah, that’s where he is. Precious L’il Sebastian.
