The First Footage of Young Prince Charles In ‘The Crown’ Is Finally Here

Last week, Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle admitted she struggles with the scrutiny she faces as a new member of the British royal family. It was a raw moment, given the vice-like grip the monarchy usually maintains over that kind of confession.

That contrast between the smiling-and-waving ceremonial duties of the royal family and the gritty, internecine reality is also what makes The Crown so addictive. And, in good news for all of you rubberneckers, the trailer for the show’s third season has finally arrived.

While the Netflix show is still a good few decades away from even mentioning Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, the fresh clip does reveal her father-in-law, young and sad Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor), his eventual squeeze Camilla Parker-Bowles (Emerald Fennell), plus Helena Bonham-Carter as Princess Margaret for good measure.

Of course the trailer features Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II. The Crown promises to show the monarch through some heady post-war years before the crushing blow of austerity at the hands of, you guessed it, Margaret Thatcher (Gillian Anderson).

We’re sure Meghan Markle has been introduced to this whole chapter by now, but you can sink into season 3 of The Crown when it premieres on Netflix on November 17.
