Call Off The Search ‘Cos ‘The Crown’ Has Finally Found Its Princess Diana

The Crown has found its Princess Diana.

After an intense search for the perfect actor to play Diana Spencer, the woman who would become the Princess of Wales, relative unknown Emma Corrin has been cast for the Netflix drama’s fourth season.

In a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, The Crown‘s mastermind Peter Morgan said Corrin “immediately captivated us” when auditioning for the role.

“She also has, in abundance, the range and complexity to portray an extraordinary woman who went from anonymous teenager to becoming the most iconic woman of her generation,” Morgan said.

Corrin also seems pretty chuffed about the announcement.

“I have been glued to the show since the first episode and to think I’m now joining this incredibly talented acting family is just surreal,” the young gun said in a statement, adding “I will strive to do her justice!”

Corrin’s Princess Diana will appear in the fourth season of The Crown, which doesn’t currently have a premiere date. Season 3 of the award-winning project, which flash-forwards to the 1970s, is expected to hit screens some time this year.

Before all of that, Corrin is slated to appear in Batman-adjacent series Pennyworth, and in the feature film Misbehaviour.

The announcement comes after stars like Olivia Colman, Helena Bonham-Carter, and Gillian Anderson were tapped for key roles in the royal drama.
