Tessa Thompson Is Tipped To Voice Lady In Disney’s ‘Lady And The Tramp’

Tessa Thompson is on one heck of a hot roll at the moment.  There’s Creed, Westworld, Thor: Ragnarok, the upcoming Men in Black spin-off with Chris Hemsworth, and Annihilation, and Sorry to Bother You… just to name a few and a majority of those titles are just from the last three years. Now, industry sources are saying Thompson’s eyeing the lead role of the Lady in the Disney classic, Lady and the Tramp.

This remake is part live-action part CGI so just think of the visual delight that was The Jungle Book and you’re all set.

According to Collider Thompson is currently in talks to come aboard the film and it’s all looking quite promising.

The live-action hybrid adaption already has Justin Theroux as the Tramp. Once again this scoop came from Collider who first reported about Theroux’s role in the film so let’s say their industry sources are real good.

Per the publication, Doctor Strange babe Benedict Wong will also star in the film as English bulldog Bill.

If it’s been a while, The Lady and the Tramp welcomes us into the pampered life of an American cocker spaniel named Lady. She’s absolutely spoilt and knows nothing else but when her humans have a baby, Lady isn’t the centre of attention anymore. As time goes by, Lady finds herself escaping to the streets where she meets tough boy Tramp, a stray who lives on his own and eats the scraps from Tony’s Italian restaurant. The rest I’m sure is coming back to you by now.

If not this should be enough to get the feels going:

This remake will be released on Disney’s upcoming streaming service – due for launch in 2019.

Charlie Bean, director behind The LEGO Ninjago Movie and The Powerpuff Girls Movie is set to direct the film. Bean was also a part of the art department for classics television shows Samurai Jack and Adventures of the Gummi Bears so things are looking fab.
