In the little snippet, we cop a very serene glimpse of the Picard family vineyard.

“15 years ago today, you led us out of the darkness,” an unseen woman says in the teaser. You commanded the greatest rescue armada in history. Then, the unimaginable.”

“What did that cost you?” she continues. “Your faith. Your faith in us. Your faith in yourself. Tell us, why did you leave Starfleet, Admiral?”

Oof.

Whatever she’s referring to, it appears to have taken a huge toll on the leader.

There’s yet to be an official release date for Star Trek: Picard but we’ll keep you updated.

CHILLS.

As a nice little touch, the teaser was released on the 25th anniversary of Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s series finale.

Picard also stars Alison Pill (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), Michelle Hurd (Blindspot), Evan Evagora, Isa Briones (Takers), Santiago Cabrera (Merlin), and Harry Treadaway (Penny Dreadful).

Back in January, during an interview with Yahoo! EntertainmentStewart revealed he had initially planned to turn down the role but was absolutely won over by the script.

I agreed to a meeting with the people who were going to produce this new version of Star Trek only because I wanted to seriously and respectfully explain to them why I was turning the project down. I heard just enough to realise this was something very unusual, and I was intrigued. What I was afraid of was … this was going to be jokey, and I didn’t want to do that.’ I asked a lot of questions and the answers were all very satisfying.

Hell yes.
