Dashing Welsh actor Taron Egerton made a name for himself in the Kingsmen films, but in his upcoming project, he seems all-but unrecognisable, taking on the role of pop star Elton John in the upcoming biopic Rocketman.
Earlier today, Paramount released an image of the young star decked out in a near-critical amount of gold lamé and enormous winged hi-tops. It’s unclear whether he’s actually wearing pants of any kind, but maybe that secret will be revealed in the movie, WHO KNOWS?

Per the official plot synopsis, Rocketman tells “the story of Elton John’s life, from his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music through his influential and enduring musical partnership with Bernie Taupin.”
Paramount have called the film an “uncensored human story”, which may or may not bring some insight the pants question – I guess maybe we’ll find out when the full trailer arrives next week.
Jamie Bell plays Taupin, while Bryce Dallas Howard will play the singer’s mother. Dexter Fletcher, who replaced Bryan Singer on the recent Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody is directing the film.
It was recently announced that Taron Egerton will return for a third Kingsmen movie, which Matthew Vaughn has described as “the conclusion of the Harry Hart-Eggsy relationship.”
