A Live-Action ‘Supergirl’ Movie Is Reportedly In The Works At Warner Bros/DC

The DC universe is set to bring more girl power to the big screen with an upcoming live-action reboot of Supergirl, Deadline reports.

Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are in the early stages of the project and have hired 22 Jump Street writer Oren Uziel to pen the script but are still on the lookout for a producer.

The iconic character is currently played by Melissa Benoist in the titular CW series which is about to kick off its fourth season, and is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller, although it looks like they’ll be finding a new leading lady to bring the character to life.

For those who aren’t super familiar with the butt-kicking babe, she is a teenager who escaped from Krypton along with her younger cousin who grew up to be Clark Kent (Superman). It’s unclear if Superman, played by Henry Cavill in the DC cinematic universe, will star in the film.

The DC-verse previously received universal acclaim for being the first modern day superhero franchise to produce a female-centric flick with 2017’s Wonder Woman played by Gal Gadot.

No word on casting or a production schedule yet.
