The Timm Army Has Come To Protest Angie And Carlin With Bulk Sunflower Emojis

You’d think that if folks bombarded your Instagram page with sunflower emojis, that would be a very good and sweet thing. You’d also be dead wrong, you fool. Sunflower emojis are now weapons of dissent, which have been deployed to undermine the partnership of The Bachelorette Angie Kent and successful suitor Carlin Sterritt.

Let’s explain a bit. Kent and Sterritt wound up together on last night’s The Bachelorette finale – which you can read about here – after Kent eliminated like, forty thousand other blokes from contention. One of those dudes was Timm Hanly, perhaps one of the most delightfully loose units ever thrown into Australia’s reality TV meat grinder.

Way back in the season opener, Hanly introduced himself to Kent with a big ol’ bunch of sunflowers, telling the Gogglebox star he just… really liked sunflowers. Old mate even has one tattooed on his hand. Kent said she actually views sunflowers as a kind of cosmic sign from her grandmother, Nanny Fae, leading viewers to believe the pair would have some kind of connection.

And they did! Sunflowers become a thing between ’em.

Until it fell apart.

In the aftermath of the finale, fans have repurposed the sunflower emoji as a sign of disappointment that Kent locked down a (perfectly nice) F45 trainer instead of a guy who dressed up like a lobster.

There were always going to be folks lambasting Kent for her decision – such is the nature of reality TV, and its bloodthirsty audience – but using sunflowers to express that discontent is a new one. We can’t say we condone the practice, but it is our god-given duty to inform you every time a fanbase gets mad at folks online using emojis.
