Stu Laundy Says “Sorry” To Australia For Splitting Up With Sophie Monk

Bachelorette bloke Stu Laundy has taken the rather unusual step of apologising to the whole of Australia for the failure of his relationship with Sophie Monk, acknowledging how crushed we all were when the two called it quits last month.

Speaking with Confidential, the 45-year-old millionaire publican said that, while the two are “good mates”, it just wasn’t meant to be. “Soph’s and my story is our story,” he said. “I’m sorry to Australia but the reality is most of these stories will finish with the couple not together.”

He went on to say that the the intense “pressure” that comes with a made-for-TV romance also led to the untimely demise of his and Sophie’s relationship. “I agree with [former Bachelor] Tim Robards and his opinion that they’re like arranged marriages,” he said.

To be fair, we had an inkling that it might not work out, based on the fate of almost every other Bachelor and Bachelorette couple and also the fact that nobody is really that naive to the bullshittery of reality TV anymore. Still, that’s very nice of him to say.

Laundy, who once said that he “clicked” more with Sophie than anyone since his former wife Rachel Laundy, also revealed that he has regrets over splitting up with her. “Sadly for me I may have had the love of my life in my ex wife and wasted it but I’ll keep searching,” he said.

Last year, it was rumoured that Rachel, who has four children with Stu Laundy, was on a shortlist of cast members for the second season of The Real Housewives Of Sydney.
