SPOILER WARNING: You know the drill, if you've yet to see 'Stranger Things 3' yet - AWAY WITH YOU.

Stranger Things / The Duffer Brothers did my sweet boy Alexei wrong when – just as he got the upper hand on “America” re: rigged carnival games at the Fun Fair – HE DIED. To give him the love he deserved, fans of the goofy scientist have been treating themselves to cherry Slurpees at their local 7-Elevens.

Alexei, the scientist forced to work on the Key beneath Starcourt Mall, was kidnapped by Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) in the hopes of finding out the Russians’ plans. Turns out, all you need to coerce the truth from a certain scientist is… a cherry Slurpee. Not strawberry, he likes cherry. So then in the penultimate episode of season three, Joyce, Hopper, Murray Bauman (Brett Gelman), and angel boy Alexei (Alec Utgoff) race back to Hawkins in search of the children. The stress levels are high, the kids are nowhere to be seen, and there’s a goddamn Russian Terminator on the loose. You… you know the rest.

“Please find it in your heart today to reply chug with a cherry Slurpee for Alexei,” Stranger Things tweeted on July 11 – 7/11 in the United States of A. For obvious reasons, many renamed the free Slurpee day Alexei Day in honour of the adorable man.

Utgoff, whose other film roles include Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and San Andreas, took to his Instagram a couple of days ago to thank everyone for the outpouring of love.

“I was really touched that you enjoyed our arc and resonated with the character,” he wrote. “I tried answering as many people as I could. As this is quite simply impossible with my responsibilities at home I’d like to thank you for all your kind energy and in all the messages I read and in turn I wish you all the happiness and successes in your family, professional and personal lives.”

What a bloody wholesome human being.
