How could you not love the story of Steven Bradbury? Making it into the semi-finals of the short track 1000 metres event speed skating event at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games because the winner was disqualified, before making it into the finals because the skaters ahead of him all crashed before — most famously — winning the gold because the exact same thing happened again.

While we could be celebrating him for the athletic ability that got him into the Winter Olympics in the first place, we instead celebrate the sheer Australian-ness of winning something because everyone else fucked up. It just seems right.
It’s hard to imagine how this scenario could play out for him on a reality TV show like Survivor, but we are being blessed with an opportunity to find out, because Bradbury is rumoured to be one of the contestants in the next season.
TV Blackbox has said that an inside source named Bradbury as just one of the celebrities on the line-up, in a list that includes Looking for Alibrandi actress Pia Miranda and former Brisbane Lions player Simon Black.
