Sophie Monk’s Reps Deny Rumour She’s Being Replaced On ‘Love Island’

Representatives for former Bachelorette and all-round national treasure Sophie Monk have denied a rumour that she is being replaced as host of Love Island Australia, after reports this weekend that the Nine network is scouting around for someone new.

A report in the Daily Telegraph claimed that viewers were disappointed by her time on the first season of the show, which saw her making only brief appearances as a variety of toned and tanned Instagram models smanged onto one-another in Mallorca.

A representative for Nine said that the rumours are inaccurate and that Ms Monk has done a great job, thank you very much, commenting:

‘Sophie’s appearance on Love Island is exactly what we wanted and expected, and is in line with the format’s hosting duties as seen on the UK version. Sophie is a treasured member of the Nine family and has a long term deal with the Network. She is currently filming a travel show for us in Italy and we look forward to working with her on various upcoming projects.’

Her agent also denied the rumours, saying that she has signed on for a second season and will not be ousted in favour of a different host.

The network has declared season one of Love Island a success, thanks in part to the high level of interest it generates on social media and especially YouTube, but has said that certain things from a “promotional perspective” will be done differently in season two.

Sophie Monk, who is currently leading her best life in Italy, has not commented on this weekend’s rumours.
