Shia LaBeouf’s ‘Honey Boy’ Trailer Is Here Ft. Shia LaBeouf As Shia LaBeouf’s Dad

A few years ago, it didn’t seem like Shia LaBeouf starring as Shia LaBeouf’s father in a movie written by Shia LaBeouf would have been the set-up for a meme. Today, with the release of Honey Boy‘s first trailer, it feels like the prologue to emotional devastation.

To recap, Honey Boy, directed by Alma Har’el, is a fictitious retelling of LaBeouf’s own time as a child star on Disney’s Even Stevens, his transition to big-budget blockbusters, and his subsequent arrest and rehabilitation.

Young Shia LaBeouf – named Otis Lort in the flick – is played by A Quiet Place young gun Noah Jupe. Slightly older Otis is portrayed by none other than Lady Bird and Boy Erased star Lucas Hedges.

As for IRL LaBeouf, he portrays James Lort, a figure of encouragement and tension in the young star’s life. Keep your eye out for the immensely talented FKA Twigs in the trailer, who plays a neighbour to young LaBeouf Lort.

The flick hits US cinema screens November 8. There’s no word on an Aussie release just yet, but hold tight – and maybe give Kingdom of the Crystal Skull another watch.
