Russell Crowe Joins Insanely Stacked Cast Of Upcoming Ned Kelly Movie

Russell Crowe Kelly Gang

Aussie director Justin Kurzel has already gifted us with the amazing-yet-brutal Snowtown and his majestic 2015 version of Macbeth (let’s just pretend Assassin’s Creed never happened, shall we?). His next project is the Ned Kelly flick The True History of the Kelly Gang, which already promises to be awesome thanks to its ridiculously good cast.

According to a Variety report, adopted Aussie Oscar winner Russell Crowe has just signed on alongside London-born Captain Fantastic star George MacKay, who landed the plum gig of playing notorious bushranger Ned Kelly himself.

The pair will join Nicholas Hoult, Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery, The Babadook‘s Essie Davis, Wake in Fright star Sean Keenan, bearded Vikings babe Travis Fimmel as well as celebrity spawn Harry Greenwood (Hugo Weaving‘s son) and Earl Cave (whose dad is Nick Cave).

Aw yis Billy’s back

Yeah, like we said. This cast is STACKED.

The film is adapted from Peter Carey‘s Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name, and follows Kelly’s evolution from regular bloke into tin mask-wearing badass outlaw.

Filming kicks off in Victoria next March, so you’ll probably find us in the bushes copping a load of all those stars.
