Rupert Grint Joins M. Night Shyamalan’s New Psychological Thriller Series

Rupert Grint

Just like his Harry Potter co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, bloody quality lad Rupert Grint has been doing his own thing since the OG franchise wrapped up. His most recent very cool thing? An original Apple series from director M. Night Shyamalan – man behind Split, Unbreakable, and The Sixth Sense.

It’s still incredibly early days but the 30-year-old has signed on to star in a supporting role. The psychological thriller – because of course it’s a psychological thriller – also stars Six Feet Under‘s Lauren Ambrose and Game of Thrones’ Nell Tiger Free – she plays Myrcella Baratheon in the show.

Deadline reports the series will introduce us to parents Dorothy (Ambrose) and Sean Turner, who have hired a nanny named Leanne to help look after their newborn bub. Now, this sounds like rainbows and unicorns but add ‘psychological thriller’ and it’s a big fat nope (but yes).

Grint is set to star as Julian Pearce, Dorothy’s younger brother.

Considering Shyamalan’s track record is quite impressive, save for whatever the hell The Last Airbender was, we’ve got high hopes for this one. Plus, the still untitled project copped a “straight-to-series order” per Deadline so there’s that.

Speaking of the director, his latest highly anticipated film Glass is fast-approaching.

In a nutshell, Glass brings together the main characters of Unbreakable and SplitSo, you have Samuel Jackson‘s eccentric and obsessive Elijah Price; Bruce Willis‘ superhuman David Dunn; and James McAvoy‘s Kevinhuman being with 24 different personalities.

The wildly talented Anya Taylor-Joy and Sarah Paulson also star in the flick.

In Australia, Glass is expected to hit cinemas January 17.
