G’DAY, SHANTAY: ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race Australia’ Is Coming In 2020

Holy shit, folks: RuPaul’s Drag Race Australia is coming.

TV Tonight reports a local version of the reality TV hit will sashay onto Aussie screens next year with ITV Studios Australia securing the rights to the format.

ITV Studios Australia head honcho David Mott told the outlet “Drag Race has moved on to being a show that captures the imagination of everyone, no matter their age or gender and we will commence discussing with potential broadcast and streaming partners shortly.

“It will be one of the most talked about and noisy formats next year.”

The series is yet to nail down a host, a network partner, and streaming options, but the name alone has basically assured it’ll be one of the biggest shows of 2020.

Just quietly, RuPaul’s husband Georges LeBar is Australian, so we’re holding out for appearances from Mama Ru herself.

The Aussie rendition of RuPaul’s Drag Race comes after British and Thai offshoots, and the beloved RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars spin-off.

Australia already has serious history in the competition, with local queen Courtney Act securing a runner-up place in season six of the original show.

We’ll keep you posted on this one, folks.
