Australian actor Ruby Rose has seemingly deactivated her Twitter account in wake of the backlash received after it was announced she would step into the iconic role of Kate Kane, otherwise known as Batwoman for The CW‘s standalone series.
As reintroduced in the 2006 DC comics Batwoman, passionate about social justice and a highly trained street fighter, is also an out lesbian.
Upon the announcement, Rose had shared her excitement for the role writing “This is something I would have died to have seen on TV when I was a young member of the LGBT community who never felt represented on TV and felt alone and different.”

Since then, a large number of people have attacked Rose’s acting ability well others denounced The CW for casting the wrong queer actor.
Members from the Jewish community also criticised the network, disappoined in the casting as Kane is of Jewish descent.
Per fandomwire.com one of Rose’s last tweets read:
“Where on earth did ‘Ruby is not a lesbian therefore she can’t be batwoman’ come from – has to be the funniest most ridiculous thing I’ve ever read. I came out at 12? And have for the past 5 years had to deal with ‘she’s too gay’ how do y’all flip it like that? I didn’t change.”
Rose has described herself as gender fluid and has previously been in long-term relationships with designer Phoebe Dahl and The Veronicas singer Jessica Origliasso.
Despite some fans believing Rose only deactivated her Twitter to concentrate on a new project, the actor has also appeared to limit the comments to just close friends and family on her Instagram.
Since Rose’s exit from the social media platform, many have denounced the community of ‘fans’ they believe are responsible:
Ruby was excited for her role and she got twitter mobbed, sad to see this happen so many times.
Give someone a chance, these people are still human, just becuase you don’t know them personally doesn’t mean destroy them

Honestly, what is wrong with people? #RubyRose (#Batwoman) has now deleted her Twitter and stopped comments on her Instagram due to so called ‘fans’. You ain’t fans, you’re poison that contributes nothing but hate to society. Be better! pic.twitter.com/FHaZFOU40K

#RubyRose quit Twitter because of the fanboys, so…..
This goes out to all the complaining, think they’re entitled, useless fanboys who ruin everything for the majority of us who enjoy the shows, comics and movies without looking for any reason to bitch. pic.twitter.com/fBgOtXa39L— Grumpy Old Bruce 🦇 (@BruceWayne5150) August 11, 2018
Those who chase creators, performers, fans, & others off social media in the name of superhero fandom should never be called fans or even fanboys–dogboys maybe, not fanboys–bc real fans would understand the message superheroes convey. #RubyRose #Batwoman

I didn’t want @GalGadot to be #WonderWoman , but I didn’t bitch about it or harass her on twitter over it.
I’ve never been more happy to be wrong, I loved it. I’ve seen the movie 3 times. She is exceptional.
Give #RubyRose a shot and quit being assholes.
