At Long-Ass Last, The ‘Rocko’s Modern Life’ Special Is Hitting Netflix Next Month

Huge news, Nickheads. The long-awaited, temporarily-shelved, and hopefully batshit-insane Rocko’s Modern Life revival special not only has a new home at Netflix, but it finally has an official release date. And it’s soon. Real, real, real soon.

Rocko was one of a handful of legacy titles that OG network Nickelodeon decided to breathe new life into, in a class that included the likes of Hey Arnold!Legends of the Hidden Temple, and others.

Though it was supposed to air on Nickelodeon in 2018, the network declined to broadcast it, instead shopping it around for a new distributor for one reason or another.

Enter: Netflix.

Not only has the red ribbon brand confirmed this morning that the special – entitled Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling – will premiere on August 9th, but they’ve gifted unto us all a sneaky teaser of the revived special.

Yes. Yes yes yes. Yes good thanks, yes please.

The plot of the special tracks O-Town in the late 2010s, where Rocko and co return after spending 20 years in space to find it awash with modern technology. Fearing most of it, Rocko becomes an unwitting O-Town hero for successfully lobbying to get his favourite TV show put back on the air.

A little self-referential and probably more than subtly cooked. This oughta be GOOD.
