In news that will certainly both annoy a lot of people and absolutely change the lives of many others, it looks like the latest actor to take on Batman on the big screen is none other than Twilight heart-throb Robert Pattinson. Yes, I know he has done many things – a lot of them genuinely great – since Twilight, but it’s also funny to call him ‘Twilight heart-throb Robert Pattinson’.
Variety, who are basically never wrong on matters such as these, says Pattinson is joining Matt Reeves’ upcoming film The Batman, which is slated for a 2021 release.

You might recall that The Batman was originally to be directed by Ben Affleck, who slowly dropped out of all aspects of the project over the past couple of years. Reeve, who helmed the last two (pretty decent) Planet of the Apes entries, was tapped to replace him.
Pattinson will be the youngest actor to ever take on the character on screen. And you know what… I reckon it could be cool. He’s got the jaw. And the aloofness.
Details about the movie are pretty scant on the ground, given Reeve is still polishing the script. Insiders told Variety it could start filming late this year or in early 202o.
