There Is Something Extremely Wrong About The New ‘Ready Player One’ Poster

Steven Spielberg‘s adaptation of Ernest Cline‘s nerd-wet-dream-as-young-adult-novel Ready Player One is landing in March, and a brand new trailer and poster dropped overnight. The trailer is much the same as the first one, though it does reveal James Halliday, founder of the virtual reality system the film takes place in. And obviously some more possibly-copyright-infringing pop culture hijinks.

Watch it here:

But what’s got everyone talking isn’t the trailer – it’s the poster. Specifically, it’s whatever grudge-bearing graphic designer made it as punishment for their unsustainable overtime hours. Behold:

Folks, what is going on with Wade Watts‘ leg? My man’s right leg is about twenty feet long and doesn’t appear to have a knee. This dude’s leg looks like he stuffed a thick length of pipe into a defective pair of jeans. It’s not right. This is not the leg of a real person.

The internet absolutely noticed:

There’s also some guy on Twitter who has written a thread almost as long as that long, long leg trying to explain with diagrams and a thorough understanding of perspective in art that the leg is in fact the right length.

Well, I’m here to say that the above poster is wrong. The leg? Too long, imo. That leg should be approximately one foot shorter, and none of your fancy perspective tricks will ever convince me otherwise.

Ah. We do have fun on here, don’t we? Ready Player One drops in March 2018, which you would have known if you looked at literally any other part of the poster other than the supremely long leg.
