‘A Quiet Place’ Just Had The Biggest Opening Weekend Since ‘Black Panther’

Somehow people were convinced to go see the overly intense thriller film, A Quiet Place and while shitting themselves, contributed to an estimated $50 million in ticket sales in the film’s opening weekend. In the United States, that places the movie second only to Black Panther… which made a reported $243 million although as we have all learnt Black Panther is on a whole other level.

So not bad, A Quiet Place.

The film tells the story of your average lovely family of four (soon to be five) living life to the fullest… in complete silence because a monster that hunts by sound is threatening to end all humanity. Lovely.

Human sunshine, John Krasinski directs, co-writes and stars in this film alongside his brilliant wife Emily Blunt, and their onscreen children including hearing-impaired actor Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe.

Back to it, A Quiet Places has been absolutely smashing it the moment slightly dazed cinema-goers exited the theatres and got tweeting about the movie.

Even Ryan Reynolds loved it which is a clear indicator of how elite this film is.

Then John replied to his son.

Then the fans got involved.

Amazing.

But really, the film is getting a lot of love. Wendy Ide from The Guardian Australia gave the film 4/5 stars and praised the film for its creature design department, ability to create suspense, and genuinely terrifying moments.

Wendy wrote, “Each audible breath, each creak, adds a needle stab of anxiety to the story.”

Yay!

While, The New York Times had this in its review,

“Yet in its convincing portrayal of a situation where a rusty nail is as lethal as an unexploded bomb, and the few remaining inhabitants seem – much like the audience – more likely to die of stress than anything else, the movie rocks.”

Gnarly.

Fear Factor aside, John is still quite new to the directing life so our love and respect for him just grew even more.

Jimmy has come so far.

Initially scoring an easy 100% on Rotten Tomatoesthe film has only dropped to 97% which is still an almighty achievement considering Rotten Tomatoes can be quite the harsh critic.

A Quiet Place is in cinemas now.

Oh yeah, the film’s only rated PG-13.
